JAG MEETS THE OWLS

The GCS Owls recently had a talk about Esports and Social Media from Jesse Goodman (@JAGCasts) from Cloud9.

He provided the students with information about his background in Esports working for multiple teams and what it takes to become successful in Esports and Social Media. Media to our Esports students!

From the talk our students are now inspired to learn more about the opportunities in the Esports industry.



ESPORTS WALES BOOTCAMP

The GCS Owls were proud to host Team Wales in their preparations for the Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham.

Team Wales had great success, winning the Gold in Rocket League and Silver and Bronze in eFootball.



KIAN PLAYS FOR WALES

Congratulations to Valorant player Kian who represented Wales in the European Esports Championships.

Playing against some of Europe’s top teams winning 3 out of 6 games.



OVERWATCH TEAM MAKE FINALS!

Our Overwatch team went through the regular season unbeaten and made it into the final of the British Esports Championships in Nottingham.

They unfortunately were beaten 3-1 in the final by worthy winners QM Samurai, making Gower College very proud of their achievements and earning the respect and recognition from all college teams from around the UK.



BAILEY PLAYS FOR WALES!

A former GCS BTEC Esports student, Bailey represented Wales in Rocket League at the European Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan in May 2022.

Bailey had previosuly played for the GCS Owls and walled called up because of his excellent performances.

Bailey is now studying a HND and is now a coach for the GCS Owls.



Cardinal open champions

Our Overwatch team were especially invited to compete in the Cardinal Open, an American collegiate tournament where American universities offer scholarships to stand out players.

The GCS Owls Overwatch team won this tournament by beating some of the best college teams across the east coast of America.

From this tournament, two American universities showed interest in recruiting two of our players to their scholarship program.



"Mr Sneaky" Wins again!

GCS Owls player wins the HGSEsports SmashBros Tournament. Luke “Mr Sneaky” has won the Heckmondwike Hotshots Tournament in the Smash Bros competition!

Mr Sneaky is a member of the Gower College Swansea Owls Esports team. This is the first full season of the GCS Owls and it’s great to see them take a trophy like this home. This only looks like the start for the GCS as there are rumours that big things are going to be coming out of the college esports scene in the next year.

Mr Sneaky played Weebuwu in the final. Playing as PacMan, Mr Sneaky won the tournament winning the final 3-1.

Mr Sneaky's advice is to learn about fast moves, to play patient but not too patient.




Stone and the GCS Owls join forces!

Gower College is an expert in supporting young people as they move through further education into the working world or onto higher education, with success based on providing first class experiences for young people.

This includes excellent teaching, good facilities and great care and support.

The range of College programmes available allow students to improve their qualifications and progress to good jobs or to higher education and also to meet new people and do new things – now thanks to gaming machines from Stone Group, those programmes have been extended.




GCS Owls Flying High with the best!

A big congratulations to our Social Media Manager Kiran Jones on being chosen as a Digital Brand Ambassador for the Dallas Fuel, one of the biggest esports teams in the World.

Congratulations to Kiran yet again for his graphic work being featured on the Overwatch League website which has been seen by thousands of people.

Kiran’s graphics have also been liked and shared by other top teams in the world like the Guangzhou Charge and the Los Angeles Gladiators.
